If I was a multi millionaire what would I do? There are many things I can think of. Nowhere on the list would be hanging around my home town and being busied with local council or masjid politics. This however seems to be the case for some wealthy folk locally.
This has always puzzled me, though I think I can understand (even though I find it difficult to see the logic of) someone who has no need to work wanting to spend their life in a small town outside London when the rest of the world awaits them.
I was interested to find Imam Ibn al-Jawzi express a similar sentiment in the course of discussing the issue of time wasting in his work Sayd al-Khatir:
